RESIDENTIAL TENANCIES AUTHORITY

Public Grants Scheme

The Minister for Community Services and Housing, Karen Stuthers, has announced more than $180,000 in funding as part of the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) Community Education Public Grants Scheme for 2009.

Fourteen (14) community organisations across metropolitan and regional Queensland were allocated funding for a range of projects.

Projects focus on Queensland's new renting laws which were introduced on 1 July 2009 and the dissemination of information about the key changes to their demographic group.

Preference was given to projects which targeted:

  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenants and housing providers.
  • Residents and providers of rooming accommodation.
  • Tenants, residents, lessors and providers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
  • Tenants and/or residents with a disability.
