Tenancy databases
Tenancy databases are electronic registers run by privately owned companies which records information about a person as a tenant. These registers are used by lessors and agents during an application process, to check the prospective tenant's rental history. Only named tenants on an agreement can be added to a tenancy database. Amendments to the legislation have put an end to the practice of unfair listings of personal tenancy information and set down fair and reasonable regulations for such listings to be made lawfully, while still ensuring the rights of lessors to protect their properties.
