Updated multilingual resources available for tenants

To support our diverse renting community, the Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) has recently published updated translated resources to help inform and educate people about their tenancy rights and responsibilities.

The Pocket guide for tenants – houses and units (Form 17a) must be provided to tenants when they rent a property and is now available to download from the RTA website in eight languages other than English: Arabic, Japanese, Korean, Punjabi, Spanish, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese.

This handy pocket guide answers the most commonly asked questions about tenancies including repairs, rent payments, lease agreements and rental bonds. The guide has also been updated to reflect recent rental law changes about limiting the frequency of rent increases, banning rent bidding and additional rights and responsibilities for tenants, property managers and owners.

For those who speak languages other than English, you can also access a free interpreter service when you phone us on 1300 366 311 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm).

The RTA website provides access to a range of free resources for the Queensland renting community, including videos, articles, webinars, publications and a podcast.
