Tenancy law changes: Queensland residential rental sector

New Queensland tenancy laws came into effect on 30 September 2024.

The reforms include changes to maximum bond amount, reletting costs, rent payment methods, utility bills, evidence for bond claims, information sharing and false and misleading information, in addition to other changes to Queensland’s tenancy laws.

Whether you’re a tenant, a property manager or a property owner, it’s important to understand your new rights and responsibilities.

The Residential Tenancies Authority is active on LinkedIn and would encourage you to follow us and help us share our posts. We have also developed this resource kit to encourage you to promote tenancy law changes and help us further our education efforts to everyone in the Queensland residential rental sector.
