New working groups established under the Residential Tenancies Authority’s (RTA) refreshed stakeholder engagement arrangements will meet for the first time in February 2025.
The working groups will increase collaboration between the RTA and stakeholders from the Queensland rental sector, provide a greater focus on outcomes, and help the RTA to deliver improved customer services.
The RTA has a broad range of stakeholders including peak bodies and associations, tenant advocacy and support groups, community housing and homelessness services, government agencies and many more.
The RTA published its Stakeholder Engagement Framework 2024–26 in September and sought feedback from stakeholders on how they would like to engage with the RTA. Over 25 stakeholders and customers responded, with the majority indicating they wished to collaborate with the RTA.
The RTA is inviting stakeholders to participate in the working groups. The new groups will be established for representatives of managing parties and tenants and the rental community to discuss and identify operational improvements to service delivery which will drive positive outcomes and experiences for customers. A third working group will discuss ways to communicate with and educate tenants/residents and property managers/owners.
The working groups will be in addition to individual meetings, engagement and collaboration with stakeholders on priority issues or projects.
The working groups will meet online three times in 2025, with the first meetings in February 2025. Interested stakeholders can access draft terms of reference and express interest in participating by completing this short survey.
A cross-sector stakeholder forum will also be held in September 2025 with a focus on strategic collaboration.
The RTA acknowledges members of the Stakeholder Forum and Stakeholder Working Group for their participation in recent years, and for their insights to support the development of the stakeholder engagement framework and the new arrangements for 2025.
