Stakeholder engagement

The Residential Tenancies Authority is committed to engaging with rental sector stakeholders in a consistent and objective way that reinforces our leading role in the sector as the regulator and body that provides bond management, tenancy and legislative information and education, dispute resolution services, and compliance and enforcement.

The Stakeholder Engagement Framework summarises our engagement approach. Depending on the topic or activity, this may be to inform, consult, involve or collaborate with stakeholders while demonstrating our principles of being purposeful, proactive, collaborative and accessible.

The RTA will establish new stakeholder engagement arrangements in 2025 to increase collaboration, provide a greater focus on outcomes, and help the RTA to deliver improved customer services.

The RTA invites stakeholders to participate in one of three working groups:

  • A working group for stakeholders representing property managers and property owners to discuss and identify operational improvements to service delivery.
  • A working group for stakeholders representing tenants and the rental community to discuss and identify operational improvements to service delivery.
  • A working group for communication and education representatives to discuss ways to improve communication with tenants/residents and property managers/owners.

Draft terms of reference and 2025 meeting dates for the working groups are available. Terms of reference will be confirmed when the working groups meet for the first time in February 2025.

If you would like to participate in the working groups or provide feedback on the RTA’s stakeholder engagement framework, please complete this short stakeholder survey.

The RTA will also host a cross-sector stakeholder forum with a focus on strategic collaboration in September 2025.

Stakeholder Engagement Framework 2024–26

The Stakeholder Engagement Framework was developed in consultation with stakeholders from the Queensland residential rental sector and released in September 2024.

The framework summarises our engagement approach. Depending on the topic or activity, this may be to inform, consult, involve or collaborate with stakeholders while demonstrating our principles of being purposeful, proactive, collaborative and accessible.
